Electrical Design/Build Solutions

At Point Electric, our highly skilled team of electricians are adept at building electrical systems, whether for new construction or remodeling existing strip malls, restaurants, offices, and residential homes. We can do more than simply implement electrical solutions, however. We can also create the plans for the solutions ourselves. Through our design/build services, we can both design and implement the electrical plans for the project, saving you time and money.

Based in Moline, Illinois, Point Electric provides commercial and residential electrical design/build services to the Greater Quad-Cities Area and commercial and industrial services throughout the upper Midwest and beyond.

SERVING THE GREATER QUAD-CITIES AREA

Point Electric is proud to serve locations in the Quad Cities Area including Moline, Rock Island, Davenport, Bettendorf, East Moline, and more. We also cover the nearby areas of Galena, Clinton, Walcott, Muscatine, Dixon, Sterling, Geneseo and Galesburg for residential electrical projects. We also serve a larger area of Iowa, Indiana, Missouri, and Wisconsin for large commercial and industrial projects.

What is Design/Build?

Design/Build means that you hire one contractor to both design and build your project, which in our case would be an electrical system. We take your plans, discuss with you your electrical needs, design your electrical plan, and implement the work.

The alternative is Design-Bid-Build, where an engineering firm comes up with the project design, which would then be taken to different contractors seeking bids on the work.

Why Choose Design/Build?

The Design/Build method holds several distinct advantages over the alternative when it comes to electrical systems.

  1. Improved Communications: When you have one company doing both the electrical planning and implementation, communication is streamlined. We meet with you, sit down, and discuss your needs and wants, design and price your project, discuss the final electrical layout and pricing with you. For any questions or problems, there is one single point of contact. You also don’t need to worry about communications breakdowns between the designer and the contractor because they are one in the same.
  2. Improved Efficiency: Once the designs are done and you have approved them, you are ready to begin. With Design/Bid/Build, you not only wait until the designs are done to seek out a contractor, but you also need to wait for an opening in that company’s schedule. When you are only dealing with one company, the scheduling process can be condensed.
  3. Cost Savings: Along with the economy of only needing to hire one company instead of two, the design/build electrical contractors are better equipped to take project costs into account and spot inefficiencies in the planning process since they will also be the ones carrying out the plan. We know the industry and the items that are “long lead” items and can make suggestions based on equipment suppliers to expedite your project. We want to design your electrical to your specifications of what you need and want, not just what we think you need and want, which in turn, eliminates costly change orders at the end of a project.
  4. Flexibility: If plans must change on the fly, it is much easier if the company who made the plans is also the one doing the work. The designers in our office and our electricians can work hand-in-hand to address any issues that arise, being able to adapt the plans to changing needs whenever necessary, which allows for answers and decisions to be made much timelier as to not hinder your schedule.
